Software for devices, the cloud and Android

LaserWorx is a software studio with years of experience in IoT systems, cloud solutions and Android mobile applications. We design and build software from the device layer, through the cloud backend, all the way to the interface in the user's hands.

About LaserWorx

Engineering experience, in-house products

LaserWorx grew out of years of practice with systems that have to work reliably: devices collecting data in the field, cloud services processing that data, and the applications through which people actually use it.

We work close to the hardware and close to the user. We know the constraints of transmission, power consumption and unreliable networks, as well as the requirements of mobile stores, privacy and production maintenance.

Alongside client projects we develop our own mobile applications. The first is Pulse Dock — an Android arcade game whose gameplay runs fully offline, free and funded by infrequent ads between runs, currently being prepared for release. A second game is in production.

We approach every project the same way: clear architecture, tests, documented decisions and code that can still be developed years later.

Capabilities

What we do

Three areas that most often come together in a single project — from the sensor, through the cloud service, to the mobile application.

IoT and embedded systems

Firmware and device software, sensor data acquisition, communication protocols, low-power operation, diagnostics and field updates of devices.

  • MQTT
  • Modbus
  • Telemetry
  • Edge

Cloud and backend

Backend services and cloud platforms: data stream processing, APIs, time series stores, queues, deployment automation and monitoring of running systems.

  • APIs
  • Containers
  • CI/CD
  • Monitoring

Android applications

Mobile applications in Kotlin — from prototype to release: offline operation, efficient rendering, accessibility, durable state persistence, unit tests and on-device tests.

  • Kotlin
  • Android SDK
  • Gradle
  • UI tests

In-house products

Pulse Dock — the first LaserWorx project

Android game

An original arcade game built on a single gesture: tap the board as the white pulse enters the marked arc. Hits in the centre build a "perfect" chain, and every five docks the direction of rotation reverses.

Gameplay runs entirely locally — no account, no analytics and no progress sent to any server. The game is free: a full-screen ad can appear only after a finished run, never during play.

  • Two modes: one circle (portrait) and two circles (landscape)
  • A system of hearts, difficulty phases and experience points
  • A slower practice mode with its own personal best
  • Accessibility settings: haptics and reduced motion

The next game

A second Android game is being built on the experience gained with Pulse Dock. The project is in production — details will be published here before release.
